Khoirudin: Wastewater Management Bylaw should Be Implemented Immediately

Jakarta City Council Chairman, Khoirudin supports Jakarta Provincial Government to implement Jakarta Bylaw (Perda) about Domestic Wastewater Management. It can be run by increasing the communal septic tank construction program.

"Hopefully the implementation of the Bylaw on Wastewater Management, we as the government will try to ensure that the community has septic tanks for waste that can be processed by Paljaya," he said.

Khoirudin added that the health of the environment is impacted since there are still many households in Jakarta do not have septic tanks. Involving all parties, including private sectors, are also important in providing and constructing communal septic tanks.

"Private companies are able to join with their CSR for this humanity program," he added.

Moreover, he suggested that the residents are also involved during the planning up to supervising the construction of communal septic tanks.

"Community development must be run by the apparatus together with institutions. So it becomes a shared property since the whole community is involved," he stated.
